Why should I have my pet fixed?

Spay and neuter procedures are done to help prevent unwanted pregnancies and litters. These procedures also help your pet to live a longer, healthier life by eliminating the risk of certain pet diseases.

What are the benefits of spaying and neutering?

Spaying a female pet decreases her risk of developing breast cancer. It also takes away her risk of developing uterine infections. Neutering your male pet decrease his risk of developing prostate cancer and takes away the risk of developing testicular cancer.

Undesirable behaviors in your pet can be controlled by these procedures as well. This is especially helpful during mating season. This means that your female pet will not yowl or cry, and your male pet will not have a strong desire to roam in search of a mate. Neutering your male pet can make him less aggressive. When pets have less of an urge to mate, this makes them more attentive to you, which allows you to bond easier with your pet.

Are these procedures safe?

Our veterinarian is experienced in these procedures. Spaying and neutering are simple, routine surgeries that are considered low risk. Our vet will examine your pet prior to performing any surgery just to make sure no health issues are present that can complicate its recovery. General anesthesia is used to perform the procedure and medication will be given afterward to help decrease pain. To help speed up the healing process, it is recommended that pets be kept calm for a few days following the surgery.

Is there an appropriate time to spay or neuter my pet?

Your pet’s age, breed, and physical health all play a role in determining the best time to spay or neuter your pet. This is why you should talk to our vet. We will be able to advise you on the most appropriate time to spay or neuter your pet
